The Work Injury Compensation Act (WICA) had replaced the Workmen's Compensation Act from 1 April 2008. The coverage and benefits under the Work Injury Compensation Act are applicable to accidents that happened on and after 1 April 2008

a) In the event of an industrial accident, the injured employee is required to inform his employer of the accident as soon as practicable.
b) The employer upon being notified of an accident, he is required to report the accident to the Commissioner of Workplace Safety and Health through the iReport within the following reportive timeline:

Where the accident results in death of an employee report within 10 days of the occurence. |
| • |
Where the accident results in any incapacity that renders the employee unfit for work for more than 3 consecutive days, or is admitted in a hospital for at least 24 hours for observation or treatment, report within 10 days of the occurence. |

Where an employee suffers an occupational disease at a workplace, and the employer receives a written diagnosis from the medical practitioner, report within 10 days from the receipt of the written diagnosis. | |

| Failure to report a work-related accident is an offence, which carries a fine of up to S$5,000 for a first-time offence, and a fine up to S$10,000 and/or a jail term of up to six months for a subsequent offences. |

| c) |
The employer is also required to report the accident to us by completing the Work Injury Compensation claim form and submit together with the following documents: |

| • |
Copy of the iReport made to MOM; |
| • |
Original Medical bills and Original Medical Certificates |
| • |
Copy of the Inpatient Discharge Summary if the injured employee is hospitalised; |
| • |
Copy of the injured employee's NRIC / work permit; |
| • |
Salary vouchers to support the injured employee's salary for the 12 calendar months prior to the accident; |
| • |
If the injured person is not your direct employee, please submit to us all the relevant contracts to establish that the direct employer is your sub-contractor;
OR
If your injured employee was injured at a project worksite while working for a Main Contractor, please submit to us all the relevant contracts relating to the project. | |
