| What does the HDB Mandatory Basic Fire Insurance Cover? |
| This insurance covers the cost of reinstating or repairing the damaged internal areas of the flat as built by HDB when the damage is caused by insured perils. This will include the building structures, fixtures, and fittings (based on current standard and specifications for HDB flat) provided by HDB and the approved developer (in the case of a DBSS flat), excluding any of the previous or current owner's renovations or improvements to the flat and all household contents provided by HDB or the approved developer which include but are not limited to built-in kitchen cabinets, cooker hood, cooker hob, air-conditioning system and built-in wardrobes. |

| What is the period of insurance? |
| This insurance will run for a period of five years from the date of policy inception. |

| Would this mean I will have to pay the premium yearly for 5 years? |
| No, we will insure you for a period of five years and the premium indicated is a lumpsum payment for this five-year period. |

| If I sell my flat before the expiry of the five-year fire insurance, can I transfer the balance insurance to my new flat or request for refund? |
| The HDB Mandatory Basic Fire insurance is issued in favour of the Lessee of the insured flat. In the event of a change of ownership of the said flat, the coverage for the remaining 5-year period will be automatically transferred to the next legal owner (ie. the new Lessee) of the flat. There will be no refund allowed under the scheme. |
