Privacy Notice

To provide you with products/services, we need your personal data.  When you provide us with your personal data, we will do our utmost to protect the privacy of your data, and we would like you to be aware of the following:
 
“We” “Us”, “Our” in this notice refers to Maybank Ageas Holdings Berhad , Etiqa Life Insurance Berhad, Etiqa General Insurance Berhad, Etiqa Family Takaful Berhad, Etiqa General Takaful Berhad, Etiqa Life International (L) Ltd or Etiqa Offshore Insurance (L) Ltd (“Etiqa”), including its branches in Malaysia and in other countries as well as its local and overseas subsidiaries or, as the context may require, any of them.
“Maybank Group” in this notice refers to Malayan Banking Berhad, including its branches in Malaysia and in other countries as well as its local and overseas subsidiaries or, as the context may require, any of them.
 
 

We need your personal data:
  1. For identification purpose, and to authenticate communications with, and instructions received from, you;
  2. To fulfil legal and regulatory requirements obligations;
  3. For assessing your suitability with our products/services offered;
  4. For analysis and marketing purposes, so that we can develop and offer better products/services;
  5. To facilitate our operations, and for processing your transactions, and instructions;\
  6. For recruitment and employment;
  7. For ensuring security of our premises and systems;
  8. For audit purposes;
  9. For information sharing with other insurers, takaful operators and any other information sharing systems, which may include credit-rating systems.

We will collect personal data shall which include but not limited to the following that will enable us to:
Keep in contact with you,;
Assess your profile,;
Fulfill our legal and regulatory obligations,;and
Record details of your transactions/communications with us,; ;
Your personal data shall include but not limited to the following:
 
(i) Non-Sensitive Personal Information
1.  name and age;
2.  home/mailing address;
3.  NRIC/Passport No.;
4.  contact information, telephone number, e-mail address;
5.  biodata profile;
6.  photograph or video image;
7.  employment information;
8.  financial information;
9.  investment and risk preferences;
10. vehicle registration;
11. personal information of family members or next of kin/beneficiaries/nominees/trustees/ assignees; and/or
13. such other personal information required (with your consent).
 
(ii) Sensitive Personal Information
1.  thumbprint or DNA profile;
2.  physical and/or mental health condition;
3.  religious belief;
4.  commission or alleged commission of any offence or contravention of law;
5.  expression of opinion; and/or
6.  such other sensitive personal information required (with your consent)
  1. If you are supplying personal data of other parties such as your family members, legal guardians, nominees, directors, shareholders or officers, please do ensure that you have obtained their consent and bring this Privacy Statement to their attention.
Kindly seek confirmation from Group whether by just indicating example are sufficient and fulfil the above requirements.

  11. personal information of family members or next of kin;
  12. personal data of beneficiaries, nominees, trustees, assignees, relevant to the processing of claims, the provision of takaful cover and related products and services; and/or
  13. such other personal information required (with your consent).

(ii) Sensitive Personal Information
  1. thumbprint or DNA profile;
  2. physical and/or mental health condition;
  3. religious belief;
  4. commission or alleged commission of any offence or contravention of law;
  5. expression of opinion; and/or
  6. such other sensitive personal information required (with your consent)
 
 

Your personal data with us is obtained from various sources. This includes:
  1. information provided by you or sources authorised by you;
  2. information obtained from legally and publicly available sources;
  3. information released to us by the authorities/other persons, with or without your knowledge or involvement as part of our statutory functions and for recruitment purposes;
  4. biometrics, digital footprints, geolocations, video images and voice recordings obtained during your interaction with us, whether physically or through digital channels.

We will do our utmost to protect the privacy of your data, be it in physical or digital form. This includes having in place procedures and security measures that meet international best practices. These measures are regularly reviewed to ensure that they are effective and adequate. All our staff members and authorized third parties will be required to comply with these measures and practices.

Subject to compliance with legal and regulatory obligations, your personal data will be shared:
  1. Maybank Ageas Holdings Berhad, Etiqa Life Insurance Berhad, Etiqa General Insurance Berhad, Etiqa Family Takaful Berhad, Etiqa General Takaful Berhad, Etiqa Life International (L) ltd or Etiqa Offshore Insurance (L) Ltd, as the context may require
  2. within the Maybank Group of companies;
  3. with law enforcement agencies and regulatory bodies, with whom we are obliged to do so under certain circumstances;
  4. when doing so is necessary to protect your interests and when obtaining your consent prior to doing so is not practicable;
  5. with third parties with whom we have contracted with to provide certain services. These third parties are required to observe the same privacy standards that we have; and
  6. with parties with whom we have obtained your consent to share.
within and outside of Malaysia.
 
While we may share your data within the Maybank Group of companies and with certain strategic partners for the purpose of introducing products and services which we believe may be beneficial to you, we will not contact you for marketing purposes unless you have expressed your consent for us to do so. We also wish to assure you that we will not sell your personal data to any third party.

You have the rights to request access to the personal data that you have provided to us.  However, there may be a cost involved, depending on the nature of the data requested.
 
You also have the rights to withdraw your consent for us to process the personal data provided by you.  However, the withdrawal of your consent may affect the products/services that we can extend to you.
 
You may also change or correct the personal data that you have provided to us.  Please contact us if there are changes to your personal data, or if you believe that the personal data we have about you is inaccurate, incomplete, misleading or outdated.

Where the data protection law applicable to our processing of your personal data does not provide for a right or set out limitations and exemptions which we may rely on, we have the right to deny your request or allow such request at our discretion.

We may update this Privacy Statement from time to time.  Please periodically review this Privacy Statement to stay informed on how we are protecting your information.
We provide the Privacy Statement in both English and Bahasa Malaysia. In case of any inconsistency between these two, the English version shall prevail. In case there are inconsistencies on how we collect or use your personal data between this Privacy Statement and the terms and conditions of your specific product or service or other contractual documents, the terms and conditions of your specific product or service or other contractual documents shall prevail.
