Unclaimed Monies
Unclaimed monies refers to:
- a. Funds or payments legally owed to an individual or entity but not collected or claimed.
- b. Monies not collected or claimed within a specific timeframe (Refer Question 3)
This includes payments such as :-
- a. Payments from insurance companies/ takaful operators (e,g. benefit payments, claims payment)
- b. Matured fixed deposits
- c. Unclaimed salaries, etc.
- You may proceed to check if you are entitled to any unclaimed monies via online enquiry at https://egumis.anm.gov.my .
Steps:
- i. Register with your name and password.
- ii. Log in.
- iii. Select “Semakan”.
- iv. Key in your NRIC No and submit.
- v. Any unclaimed monies entitled to you will be displayed.
Payment that was issued by Etiqa is not claimed by the policyholder/ certificate owner or rightful payee within the period of TWO (2) years from the payment issuance date. After the period of TWO (2) years, the payment will be categorized as unclaimed money.
Etiqa will notify the policyholder/ certificate owner or payee before the money becomes unclaimed monies and is remitted to the Registrar of Unclaimed Money.
- There are 2 options available as below:
a) Online submission via eGumis https://ewtd.anm.gov.my
- The criteria below is required to apply via online:-
- No changes in policyholder name / Identity Card number
- Policyholder owns a Malaysian bank account
- Policyholder is require to upload their Identity Card (front and back) and Malaysia Account Passbook / Bank Statement copy in eGumis
OR
b) Manual submission
- Applicable only if there any discrepancy in the name and / or identity card number of the policyholder / certificate owner. The policyholder / certificate owner is to write to us and inform us of his / her intention to claim from unclaimed monies and provide us the following details: -
- i. Policy number / certificate number
- ii. Identity Card Number
- iii. Name of the Life Assured / Person Covered
- Etiqa will provide the following documents to the policyholder / certificate owner:-
- i. Confirmation letter from Etiqa (AG Confirmation letter)
- ii. Original UMA 7 (PIN 1/2015) b)
*Note: Any communication form used will be sent to the last known address as stated in our record. If there is any change of address, please inform us by completing the “Request For Change” form to update the address.
- Applicable only if there any discrepancy in the name and / or identity card number of the policyholder / certificate owner. The policyholder / certificate owner is to write to us and inform us of his / her intention to claim from unclaimed monies and provide us the following details: -
- For Individual
- Original confirmation letter from Etiqa.
- Original UMA 7 (PIN 1/2015) form to be completed by policyholder or claimant.
- Copy of Claimant identity card (front & back) or passport page for Non-Malaysian Citizenship.
- Copy of the front page of an active account passbook/bank statement of the applicant (payment will be directly credited into the account)
- For Company
- Original confirmation letter from Etiqa.
- Original UMA 7 (PIN 1/2015) form to be completed and signed by the company's officer, stating his name and position, and affixed with the company official seal.
- Copy of the certificate of registration of the company.
- Copy of a bank statement (active current account) bearing the name and account number for the company (payment will be directly credited into the account).
- You will need to submit the following requirements to the Registrar of Unclaimed Money:
- Original confirmation letter from Etiqa.
- Original UMA 7 (PIN 1/2015) form to be completed by policyholder or claimant.
- Copy of Claimant identity card (front & back) or passport page for Non-Malaysian Citizenship. Copy of the front page of an active account passbook/bank statement of the applicant (payment will be directly credited into the account).
- Certified True Copy of Letter of Administration of Grant of Probate. If this document is issued outside Malaysia, the document must be registered and sealed by the Malaysian High Court.
- Additional document:
- Certified true copy of proof of relationship
- Certified true copy of death certificate
- UMA-8 (Borang Bon Tanggungrugi) to be completed and sign by the claimant, in front of Commissioner of Oath or Hakim Mahkamah Seksyen or Majistret, and duly stamped and endorsed by Inland Revenue Board (Lembaga Hasil Dalam Negeri)
- The criteria for claiming of small amount of monies from Unclaimed Monies are: -
- a. The claim amount is RM2,000.00 or less.
- b. Claimant (executor or administrator) is unable to produce the Certified True Copy of Letter of Administration or Grant of Probate
- The following documents are required to be submitted to the Registrar of Unclaimed Money for claiming of small amount: -
- Certified True Copy proof of relationship between claimant and the deceased.
- Certified True Copy of Death Certificate.
- UMA 8 duly form completed by the claimant, in front of Commissioner of Oath or Sessions or Magistrate Court Judge and duly stamped and endorsed by Inland Revenue Board (Lembaga Hasil Dalam Negeri).

Please note that the information on the submission requirement to the Registrar of Unclaimed Money is not conclusive as the Unclaimed Money authority needs 3-6 months to process and update in eGUMIS. Therefore, it is advisable to check with the Registrar of Unclaimed Money before any submission.
