Road Accident Guide

Just had an accident? We’ll guide you through it.

Step-by-step guidance from the accident scene to claim submission.

Step 1 - The first 5 minutes

Let's start with safety

Make sure everyone is safe before taking the next steps.

1

Check for injuries

Stay calm and check yourself first, then everyone involved.

Note

If you encounter a road bully, do not get out of the car. Drive directly to the nearest police station and report it.

2

Keep the area safe

If it is safe to do so, move your vehicle to the roadside and turn on your hazard lights.

3

Contact us first if you've been in an accident

Get the right support

We’ll arrange towing or medical assistance if needed.

Help speed up your claim

The sooner you report the accident, the sooner we can start processing your claim.

Protect yourself

Reporting the accident creates a record that may help if any disputes arise later.

Step 2 - At the accident scene

Collect information and arrange assistance

Once everyone is safe, gather everything you need for your police report and insurance/takaful claim.

1

Photograph everything at the scene

Your photos support the police report and can determine who is at fault. Take them before any vehicle is moved, if possible.

Vehicle damage

Wide shot + close-up of every dent, scratch, and broken part on both cars.

Road conditions / traffic lights / signs

Skid marks, potholes, damaged barriers, road names, landmarks, and traffic control devices visible from accident spot.

Vehicle positions

Orientation of both vehicles relative to each other and lane markings.

Dashcam footage

Back up your dashcam SD card immediately.

2

Exchange information with the other driver

Stay calm and be polite. Exchange contact details with the other party. If they refuse, note down their vehicle registration number.

Never admit fault or sign anything

The police and the insurer/takaful provider will determine fault after completing their investigations.

Driver details

Full name, IC/MyKad number, phone number, address.

Vehicle details

Plate number, make, model, colour.

Driving licence

The other driver's licence number and class (take a photo).

Insurance/takaful information

Insurance/Takaful provider and policy/certificate number (you can find these on the windscreen sticker).

Witnesses

Name and contact number of any bystanders who saw the accident.

3

Arrange a tow truck if your car can't be driven

Call us for roadside assistance. We'll arrange an authorised tow truck to take your vehicle to the police station and then to your selected panel workshop.

Request Roadside Assistance

If your car can still be driven

Do not go to any workshop yet. Drive directly to the nearest police station first to file your report, then proceed to an authorised panel workshop.

Step 3 - Within 24 hours

Lodge a police report

Lodge a police report to create an official record of the accident and support your insurance/takaful claim.

1

Go to the police station nearest to the accident scene

You must lodge a police report within 24 hours of the accident, regardless of who is at fault. After lodging your police report, you may be asked to visit a traffic police station. Follow the investigating officer's instructions if this is required.

What to bring to the police station

  • Photos and other evidence of the accident
  • Your IC / MyKad
  • Your driving licence
  • Details of the other driver
2

Choose an authorised panel workshop before leaving the police station.

To avoid additional towing or workshop relocation charges later.

Phase 4 - Insurance/takaful claim

File a claim

Choose the option that best describes your accident.
